For Money Smart Week 2012, DFI partnered with San Juan Islands' libraries for a series of financial education workshops.
Over the span of three days, DFI’s Jeremy Lushene conducted workshops on Lopez, San Juan, and Orcas Islands.
DFI’s workshops covered topics such as elder fraud, identity theft, budgeting, credit, and investment fraud.
DFI’s workshops coincided with other Money Smart Week events in the San Juans, such as reading days with kids and small business assistance workshops.
This was the first time in recent memory that DFI conducted financial education workshops on the islands. Many of the workshop attendees had never heard of DFI and were happy to hear that some of DFI’s services such as filing a complaint or verifying a license were available to them.
